Well I couldn’t get my sound to work for the audio assignment so I decided to write about my superpowers.  I couldn’t decide between teleportation and super healing powers.  Teleportation would be a very useful superpower.  You would never be late for class and get to see the world with the blink of an eye.  This would help me most because I have to wake up early for PT in the morning if I had teleportation as a super power I would be able to go straight from my bed to the track.  The character I picked to portray the teleportation super power is Chromos. Chromos has the ability to transform into structure made completely of fire-based particles. He can create, shoot and absorb fire from his body. While in this form, he has the ability to teleport. Chromos' only weakness is being subjected to sub-zero temperatures.  The other power that would be very useful to me would be super healing power.  I get hurt a lot so this would be very useful.  Continuous workout always damages your body but with super healing power there would be no need for rest.  This would also help me in my profession.  I am in the Army and this super power would trump and weapon the enemy has. The character I used to portray this super power is Deadpool.  He is a marvel comic book the has super healing ability.

Response to Karim Rashid’s Karimanifesto
The author wishes to live in a world where people can be creative.  He wants people to live in the now age forgetting old traditions and rituals. In past years design was about solving problems, such as how to design a skyscraper, however today design is about making an object of beautification. He says “My real desire is to see people live in the modus of our time, to participate in the contemporary world, and to release themselves from nostalgia, antiquated traditions, old rituals, kitsch and the meaningless”(Kar).  People should be conscious to what is happening to the world right now, in this moment. “If human nature is to live in the past - to change the world is to change human nature” (Kar).  The point that speaks to me most is, Never say: “I could have done that” because you didn’t.  This is important to me because there are things from my past I dwell on. I cannot change what has happened but I can change what will happen.  This point shows that every decision you make effects you.  If you make one bad decision you cannot change what you did and must accept the consequences.  The only way to solve this problem is to live in the moment and just do it.  There is a direct correlation between his manifesto and his work.  His manifesto wants someone to think for the now moment and what will come.  His work shows this because he has written numerous books on how to modernize you home.  He also writes many books based in design and fashion.  His books about design are normally based on new design.  This is in correlation with his manifesto by both looking to the future.

Freak Factor by David Rendall explains how to overcome weakness in your life.  He states that weakness is only a hint at your greatest strength. You must harness the negative energy from the weakness and turn it positive.  For example if someone is a drug addict they will see themselves as being weak and their addiction as their weakness.  Addiction is not a weakness it just depends what you are addicted to.  If you turn a negative addiction into a positive addiction you can drastically change your life.  There are a couple examples the author uses that I think can help me in my creative process.  The power of uniqueness is a factor I can use.  This factor explains that although you might think you have flaws they are really just the uniqueness of you.  No one else is exactly the same as you.  We all have unique qualities and instead of hiding them or seeing them as flaws we must embrace them.  The author uses the example The Leaning Tower of Pisa.  This building has gained much attention over the years mainly because of its uniqueness. He states the flaw of the tower is what makes it an object of special attention also every attempt to fix the so called flaw has been met with disappointment.  This means to embrace your flaws seeing them as unique qualities that make you special.  The next factor I liked was Find the Right Spot.  The author uses an example of Rudolph the red nosed reindeer.  The point of the story is Rudolph had a red nose which was an obvious flaw.  The other reindeer made fun of him for being different.  This mirrors people making fun of a person for dressing a certain way or acting a certain way if they think it is out of the ordinary.  This makes the person feel isolated and alone.  Rudolph tried to cover up his flaw although it didn’t work.  Then one foggy night Santa asked Rudolph to lead his sleigh because of his glowing red flaw.  This shows that his flaw really wasn’t his weakness it was his strength.   The same think that made him a freak made him a hero.  The third factor I liked was Focus: You can’t do both.  This factor is based on the question: Would you fix your weaknesses, build strengths, or both.  Most chose both.  However because of limited time most do not succeed in tackling both challenges at once.  By focusing on both activities you limit progress.  You should focus on changing one thing at a time focusing all your energy into it.  This affects my creative process because I have weaknesses I would like to change however I try and conquer them at the same time.  By solving each weakness separately I can focus my progress to that goal.  My strengthens are I am smart when I apply myself and when I find something I like to do I work very hard on it.  My weaknesses are procrastination and when I do not enjoy a subject or topic lose interest. These weaknesses are my major downfall. They affect my attendance, the quality of my work, and the promptness of the work.  My weaknesses affected me in this class especially on the blog post.  I would procrastinate doing the work putting it off till the last minute.   This made the quality of my work go down because I was in a hurry.  Next quarter I am trying to replace my weaknesses with strength in that area.  I will work toward one goal at a time.

I was not present for my groups gaming presentation.  After discussing the ideas we wanted for our game we set out to come up with the rules, objectives, goals, and mechanisms.   The premise of our game was a golem set in the time of world war 2.  The objective is to destroy all the enemy's in the game however you must be careful because once you attack the enemy gains reinforcements.  I hope our group did a great presentation.  The only aspect of the game to audience might have gotten confused about are the goals.  When attacking specific enemy's you only get attacked by that enemy not everyone.  Depending who you attack you may lose or win the fight.  I thought our idea for the game was very strong.  Victor a member of my group the basis of the game down.  As a group we honed the specific's of the game.  Because his idea was so elaborate it was easy to develop the rules and objectives of the game.
I believe rules are the easiest to explain the others when talking about video games.  This is because the whole game is based on a set of rules.  If you try and break one of the rules the game automatically corrects you.  Rules are easy to explain because before you play a game you must know the rules.  For example in Call of Duty Black Ops a rule is you cannot go outside of the designated area.  If you do the game either declares you dead or takes you to another part of the map.  Another aspect of this game is  its rules with different perks, weapon attachment, and killstreaks.  Some simple rules of this game are you can only have three killstreaks and perks on at one time.  Each perk allows you to have one special ability.  However because the rules of the game if you decide not to use a perk you forfeit those special abilities.  You cannot play a game without knowing the rules.  Therefore the rules must be explained and understood before play even begins.  You can also learn the rules on our own while playing the game.  Rules are the easiest to understand because similar games have similar rules. Once you learn them you do not forget.

The first hero/ villain duo I am critiquing is Dan Ahren's.  The two characters are vastly different in their color.  They each use different huesThe creep has a green hue.  However there are different saturation of the green on the character.  The different saturation are used to portray certain aspects of the character.  The eyes of the character are bright red which contrast with the whole dark picture.  This makes the eyes pop out in the picture showing brightness there to attract your attention.  The second character. the ringleader gives off a very different feel than the creep.  The ringleader is a bright, vibrant, handsome man.  This character consists of many different hues including red, white, and black.  It seems the red on his coat is very bright making you focus on this body.  The part I thought was most creative was how they used brightness and different saturation of the same color to make it appear the spotlight was on him. The two characters have very contrasting hues however their placement in the frame shows affinity because both characters are in the center of the frame.
The second hero villain set is Beth Carter. Her partner and her used a western theme for their characters.  To portray the difference between the hero and villain the group messed with the lighting. "The Good" is the hero character.  He is characterized by bright colors that are warm and pleasant the appeal.  Beth uses shadows to show that the sun is behind him.  There are minimal shadows on the character expect on his clothing. The bright blue sky in the background in symbolic of a hero character.  All of these colors effect the mood of the picture.  Because she used using bright inviting colors the picture gives off positive appeal.  The character also seems to have a grin on his face inviting the audience in.  The second character gives off the opposite appeal.  All of the colors are very dark.  Shadows are used on the face to show a scruffy look making the character look tougher.  Symbolism is used in this picture by the shape of the bandanna.  It is in the shape of a triangle which portrays villain characters.  These characters show objective and subjective qualities.   It is objective because the characters are dressed truthfully for the time period.  They are subjective because you have to examine they pictures to determine which is the hero and villain.  Your opinion on who is good and bad is up for interpretation depending on what you think of the picture.
My third critique is on Corey Longstreth's animations.  His two characters are merman and petroleum man.   These characters share an underwater theme.  The first character merman, uses many different hues and saturation's of blue.  The upper body is a shade of blue and then the lower body is a slightly different hue.  The blue color is complimented by the color yellow.  The yellow shows brightness which attracts your attention to that part of the picture.  The second animations also uses yellow to make attraction points in the picture.  It is also drawn in color pencil so you can really see the different saturation of the blue hue on the characters body.  The color blue could symbolism them being underwater.  The characters are effectively drawn through the use of the color blue, various brightness levels, and a variety of saturation's.  The pictures also use text and subtext. The first animation has its name in text on the picture however for the second animation there is no text.  You must rely on your ability to look at the picture using the cues to come up with a suitable name.

For my groups joke videos we decided to make a silent film and a voice over film. In the silent film we used slides to show the audience what was happening in the movie. This is a type of didactic learning because we are actually writing the lines down. We also use a variety of actual and virtual lines. For actual lines we show the mother and the son looking at each other. We made sure all lines in the frame were focusing on the characters. We use virtual lines many times throughout this movie. These consist of the mother looking out of frame at her son playing. To create rhythm in this movie we used movement through the frame and secondary movements. Movement through the frame was used we the boy is exiting the room to go to time out. We use secondary movements because we only show movement of the arms. By keeping the camera still we used simple movements in our video. We also use shape in this video. The mother has a round head portraying her innocence and mother qualities. The boy has a triangle face showing that he is going to be bad. We use silent movie background music throughout this film. This music effectively uses tension and release to heighten the audience then bring them back down. The music starts off pleasant while the boy is playing but right before he is bad the music changes to a dark fast paced tone. This continues while the boy is being bad until he gets out of time out, when the music changes back to a pleasant tone.
In the second movie we used a voice over. This is a type of active learning because the audience must listen and make their own conclusions. We also used simple camera movements in this movie keeping the camera at the fixed position every shot. Rhythm is established by movement through the frame and primary and secondary movements. Movement through the frame is used when you see the mother walk up and grab the son’s leg. This shows her legs and arms moving portraying primary and secondary movements.
