Kid cudi up, up, away
One artist that I really admire is Kid Cudi.  He is a hip hop artist that is not afraid to express his feelings.  His music career started right after high school when his father died from cancer.  First releasing a mix tape, A kid named Cudi, which shot him to the top of the music charts.  The reason I admire him is because his songs tell a story about his life.  Every song he writes comes from an experience in his life with no two songs being alike.  He uses many references to drugs in his songs.  This leads me to believe some if not the majority of his creativity comes from an alternate state of mind.  Cudi uses his songs to teach lessons about life.  His outlook is you only live once so you must make the most of it.  Another positive attribute to his music is he makes it easy for everyday people to relate to his music.  His music is both subjective and objective.  It is objective because his lyrics are truthful about everyday live.  However in songs such as Up,Up, Away his lyrics are very subjective.  You can interpret the lyrics in many different ways.  One might see them as up referring to getting high and some might interpret the lyrics as meaning something completely different.  From the text in his songs you can infer that he enjoys marijuana. To see the subtext in of his songs one must look further than the lyrics and understand the deeper meaning of the song.  His songs are not about just marijuana; they are about life, with marijuana being something this artist enjoys.
