Brainwashed
In the article “Brainwashed” Seth Godin talks about seven layers of reinventing yourself.  I think the two most important layers are acknowledging the lizard and learn.  In the acknowledging the lizard level Godin states this is the part of our brain that worries about safety and shows anger.  Being embarrassed is the lizard’s worst fear.  When this happens “the resistance” takes over.  The resistance is the voice inside your head instructing you what to do.  The resistance lives in fear and shuts us down at the first sign or danger or humiliation.  To get past “the resistance” we must acknowledge it however by doing this we can ignore it.
Another important pillar is learning.  This pillar is the key to the other pillars.  Learning has to do with many things such as experiments and experiences.  The constant failure of shipping and learning continue to help you grow as a person and learn from your mistakes. We must forget what we think we know and instead learn what we need to learn.
These exercises can help my creative process.  By making blogs and experimenting with different programs I am learning new skills for the future.  Also by reading the articles it opens my mind up to new ideas that I can use as a foundation to build my creativity. These levels are connected with what we are doing in class because we follow “the resistance”.  We do this by doing all of our blog postings and readings to benefit our grade.  However by giving into “the resistance” we can cooperate with it and learn valuable skills for the future.
